Plankton, also called “drifters” or “wanderers,” are a group of organisms that rely on the winds, currents, and tides of the ocean to move from one place to another. Plankton forms the basic level of the marine food web - but not only as a food source but also as a carbon sink, the well-being of plankton is crucial to the future of humanity.
Physalia Physalis – also called “Man-o-War” – belongs to the siphonophores and is a colonial organism. The Physalia Physalis lives on the ocean's surface and is moved passively by wind, tides and currents, using a sail-like swim bladder. The “sail” of the colony, like the zooids (which differ in function but not genetically), has a diverse range of colors.
