A few years ago, NAULA and I worked on a joint collection.
+1.2 was a collaborative capsule jewelry collection designed in collaboration with NAULA_studio . The +1.2 project was a response to the massive wildfires that occurred in California, USA in 2020.
The temperature on our planet has risen by 1.2 degrees Celsius globally, and the wildfires were just one of many consequences of this. In response to the cinematic atmosphere of these fires, we designed pieces to not only raise awareness of climate change, but also to question the relationship between humans and nature in the future.
The collection was based on a statement piece visualising a breathing device that circulates air between the chest and mouth. A range of wearables repeated the minimalist button shape of the mouthpiece and were completed with orange acrylic engraved with the amount of carbon dioxide released by the bushfires – 7.7×107-1.35×1010 MT CO2 – a key factor in the +1.2 concept.
Some designs from the collection can still be found in our online shop. We had a large number of our ring designs R001 and R002 produced at the time and unfortunately we are left with some of them.
Now we're itching to rework the remaining ring designs into something new. The result is two different designs in two colorways each, combining NAULA's typical technical design with our textured elements.
