Die richtige Ringgröße finden

Finding the correct Ring Size

Finding the perfect ring size can be a challenging but exciting task, especially when choosing a ring for yourself or as a gift for a loved one. A perfectly fitting ring is crucial, not only for comfort, but also for style and overall appearance. In this article, we'll show you different methods to determine your ring size and explain how the width of the ring affects the size you need. We'll also compare the different ring sizing systems internationally.

Why the right ring size is important
The correct ring size ensures that the ring sits comfortably and does not slip or pinch uncomfortably. A ring that is too tight can impair blood circulation and be uncomfortable, while a ring that is too loose can easily be lost. The ring size can also affect the appearance of the ring - wide rings often require a larger size than narrower rings and rings with a large structure rotate or slip easily if the ring size is chosen incorrectly.

Factors that can affect ring size
Before we get into the different methods for determining your ring size, let's briefly look at the factors that can affect ring size:
Ring width : Wider rings usually require a larger size than narrower rings because they take up more space on the finger. A wide ring - for example, 8 mm - might require a half to a full size larger than a narrow ring that is 2 mm wide.
Finger shape : Every finger is unique, and some people have wider joints or narrower middles. This can affect the wearing experience and choice of ring size and ring style.
Temperature : Fingers can expand or contract in cold or hot weather. It is advisable to measure your ring size only when your hands are at a regular temperature.

Methods for Determining Your Ring Size
There are many ways to determine your ring size. Here are some of the most common methods:
Use a ring sizer or template: One of the most accurate ways to determine your ring size is to use a ring sizer or ring size template. These are often available in jewelry stores or online. Choose the ring that fits your finger best or use a template to measure the size. We also have ring sizers in our studio, of course - so if you are in Berlin, we welcome you to come by and get your fingers measured.
Thread or paper strip method: If you don't have a ring sizer, you can use a thin thread or a paper strip:
- Wrap the thread or paper around the finger where you want the ring to sit.
- Mark the place where the thread or paper overlaps.
- Measure the length of the thread or paper strip with a ruler and use the chart (below) to determine the ring size.
Measure existing ring: Another easy way is to take a ring that fits well and whose inner diameter you can measure:
- Measure the inner diameter of the ring in millimeters and find the appropriate value in the table below to determine your size.

Professional measurement
The safest way is to visit a jeweler. Most jewelers offer a free service to determine the exact ring size. This method is especially recommended if you want to have a custom-made ring or an engagement ring made. We also offer this service free of charge and we look forward to welcoming you to our studio to find the perfect ring size!

Pay attention when buying a ring
If you buy a ring that is wider than what you normally wear, remember to go up a size. Wider rings may fit a little tighter on your finger and require more room to adjust.
