Burke’s physiological account understands the sublime as an immediate affective arousal, which is not a highly intellectual aesthetic response. This is the ‘thin sublime’.

Edmund Burke once understood the sublime as an immediate exhilaration that does not translate into an intellectual response. This describes the thin sublime. The overwhelming sublime experience which however does not result in personal action.
The Glitch Bracelet is part of the collection “Thin Sublime” – an extension of the previous collection Sublime Devastation, inspired by the concept of Edmund Burke.
The piece is hand modeled in wax by me in my studio in Cologne, cast in aluminum through a company in southern Germany, and finished back in my studio.
